10 ways to Embrace a cozy fall Aesthetic for all the Autumn Vibes
There’s something about this time of year that is cozy and feels like a big hug. Embracing all that the season has to offer will have you feeling all the fall vibes in no time.
I am THAT girl. You know the one. The girl who can barely wait till the end of August before she starts enjoying all things pumpkin. Of course, every year when I try to to jump on the cozy autumn train too early it never quite works because it’s really hard to enjoy a hot pumpkin latte when the sun is beating down on me and it’s still stifling hot.
But, I’ll still try to speed up the arrival of autumn.
And I know, I know, it isn’t good to wish away the current season going on because, let’s face it, summer has so much good to it as well, but I can’t help it. I love fall. I love the colors, the pretty cozy sweaters, the baked goods. Don’t even get me started with corn mazes and pumpkin patches.
It’s all so glorious, I tell ya.
I want to help you savor every moment of the season. So today I’m going to share with you ways that I embrace the season, and how you can too!

Light a Pumpkin Spice Candle
I absolutely love when my house smells like fall. The warm scent of cinnamon and sweetness and pumpkin in the air screams autumn. I love seeing all the different kinds of pumpkin candles at this time of year like this pumpkin pecan waffles one, or this vanilla pumpkin one. There’s just so many to choose from!
Wear a fall sweater
I am not what you would call a “fashionista” by any means, but when autumn arrives that’s the one time of year I’m wearing my most fashionable, cozy sweaters. You don’t need to spend a lot of money on this. Either go to the thrift store, or buy one new sweater a year and before you know it you’ll have quite a few to choose from!
I’m really enjoying the mustard color sweaters for fall right now, though I have a brown one and a deep orange one too. Chunky sweaters are nice for fall, but so are cardigans.
Wear fall boots
While we are on the subject of what to wear for that cozy fall aesthetic, fall boots definitely complete that look!
Boots can be expensive, but I’ve been able to find all my boots secondhand. I’ve even been able to find a a pair of dark red cowboy boots for free given by someone who no longer wanted them.
Of course, if you can’t find a good pair from a thrift store, Amazon has a few good pairs that aren’t outrageously expensive. These ones are quite cute in my opinion.
Decorate with natural decor
I like to decorate my house with things that I find outside, or food I would have bought anyways. In the fall you can decorate with acorns, pine cones, and leaves. I buy pumpkins to decorate with, but then I use them for cooking with eventually.
I love the realistic look of natural decor.
Make a pumpkin latte
You don’t need to buy a pumpkin latte at a coffee shop (though, that IS a nice treat once in a while.) You can make them at home every single day of the season with this easy recipe. Of course, a cute, fall mug is definitely a must.
Read more books
Summer is the time to be out and about doing all the active things, but autumn? It’s the time to start leaning in to more moments at home with good books. Hit up the library and pick up some books to enjoy.
Picture this – it’s raining outside but you are cuddled up on your couch under a cozy blanket while your pumpkin spice candle flickers next to you. In one hand is a pumpkin spice latte, in another is a really good book that you can’t get enough of.
Tell me you don’t want that for your life this fall.
Do all the fall baking
Fall is the time I want to start baking again after months of not having the motivation to turn on my oven any more than necessary due to the summer heat.
There’s NO shortage of things to make that give off all those fall vibes. Whether it’s pumpkin cinnamon buns, or upside down caramel apple cake, there’s something for everyone.
Fill a basket with apples
We often think about pumpkins when it comes to fall, but don’t forget about the mighty apple! I love to fill a wicker basket with apples and put it on my counter or table to give off that autumn vibe.
Sometimes we go to an orchard to pick apples, sometimes a neighbor is giving away apples from their apple tree, and sometimes my basket is full of the store bought kind.
Either way, it’s a great trick to add a little fall decor to your home, and it doubles up as an easy way for your kids to grab a healthy snack when they are hungry.
Go on a trail walk
My favorite time to hike is in the fall. The crunchy leaves under my fall boots, the changing colors on the trees, the smell of crisp air – it gives off fall vibes like nobody’s business.
The best places to hike for those autumn vibes are where you end up at a lookout. Being up high and looking down upon the gorgeous trees makes for a perfect fall day.
Make squash soup
Soups in general give off that autumn feeling, but squash soup is particularly fall-like. Pair it with some homemade bread for extra autumn comfort food vibes. Enjoying this soup after an afternoon of trail walking is sure to be an enjoyable autumn day.
Create the perfect Autumn Season
You know what they say – life is what you make it. You don’t need lots of money, or perfection. There are little ways you can embrace the fall season that have you smiling all season long. There is something special about the autumn season as we all get back into routine after those lazy summer days. How will you embrace fall as the cooler, shorter days begin?
