Vanilla Iced Coffee
Today is a good day, because we are making vanilla iced coffee! Any day we make coffee is a good day, in my opinion. And in full disclosure, every day is a coffee making day in my house.

I have a confession to make. I have “quit” coffee so many times in my life. I figure it’s better for me not to drink all the caffeine. And I am successful at giving it up.
For a while.
Until I’m not.
Because, I always go back to it.
Don’t look at me like that. I’m not proud of it.
It’s just that, there’s something about coffee that makes everything seem right in the world. That first cup in the morning is pure comfort.
And, so, maybe I’ll quit again one day, but for now, I’m in the season of life where I enjoy every cup I can.
Right now it’s hot outside, so iced coffee hits the spot perfectly. I don’t know about you, but for some reason I always felt like iced coffee was too hard to make. I only would drink it when I bought it in a drive thru.
And we all know those drive-thrus add up in a hurry.
You can save money by making it yourself at home. Plus, if you live in a small rural community like I do, you may not have many options for coffee and so if you learn to make it at home you will always have access to it.
It’s a win-win situation in my opinion!
This iced vanilla coffee is completely adaptable. If you want it more or less sweeter you can add more or less sugar. Same goes with the cream and the vanilla.
I’m Canadian so I like my coffee strong, but if you prefer, make it with a weaker coffee.
So, basically, I’m giving you the ingredients but the amounts really are up to you. It almost seems silly to give it to you in a recipe! But I’ll share how I make it and you can adapt it your liking.
I use a milk frother to add the cream in foam form, but you could absolutely make this without frothing your cream. However, my milk frother brings me great joy, so if you are looking for one, check this one out.
Vanilla Iced Coffee Recipe
Ingredients you will need:
- 1 cup brewed coffee
- 1 cup ice
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup cream
Step 1:
Pour your cup of coffee into some type of jar or container so you can add the other ingredients more easily.
Step 2: Add the sugar and the vanilla extract to the brewed coffee. Stir well. You’ll want to do this while the coffee is hot so that the sugar dissolves.
Step 3: Grab the glass you’ll want to drink your coffee out of. Add the ice to the glass.
Step 4: Pour the coffee over the ice. This is why you need to make sure you have enough ice since your coffee is probably still hot.
Step 5: Froth your cream and pour it on to the coffee.
Step 6: Enjoy on a super hot day!
And that’s all there is to it. Pretty simple, am I right?
It’s quicker to make this iced coffee at home then to go to the coffee shop and get one, and it’ll save you money this way. I like to make iced coffee right up until we switch over to all things pumpkin season. Then it’s time for hot pumpkin spice lattes.
But until then, you’ll find me drinking all the iced coffee.
