Christmas Chalkboard Ideas

The holiday season is just around the corner, and it’s the perfect time to add a little joy and festive cheer to your home decor. If you’re looking for creative and budget-friendly ways to decorate your living room, front porch, or even your Christmas mantel, consider incorporating Christmas chalkboard art.

Chalkboard art

There are various Christmas chalkboard ideas we will talk about today to get you in the holiday spirit.

If you are new to chalkboard art, don’t worry.  There are some great ideas that aren’t overly complicated to do.  There are different methods too, with some that don’t actually even use chalk, so if you are worried about chalkboard dust, there’s a way around that.

Chalkboard art can be so beautiful, and it’ll add an elegance to your home that everyone will love!

Christmas Chalkboard Ideas

Christmas Deer with Scarf

This chalkboard Christmas deer is so cute!  What I love about this one especially is that they add a scarf they made out of gift bags.  It’s unique and the scarf addition to the chalk makes it stand out.  You can find out how to create this Christmas chalkboard art over at Fantabulosity.

Christmas Countdown

Need a simple countdown on a chalkboard for Christmas?  This tutorial over at Single Girl’s DIY will show you how to get it done, complete with the red frame.

I love Christmas countdowns for two reasons – it’s just plain fun, but also, it prevents the kids from asking me multiple times a day how many more days till Christmas.

They can just look at the chalkboard and they’ll know the answer.  But remember, they’ll only know the correct answer if you make sure to keep the countdown up-to-date!

Christmas Tree Door

I love this Christmas tree door over at Duct Tape and Denim.  Firstly, I love how big it is so it just SCREAMS Christmas.  Secondly, if you don’t have space for an actual Christmas tree, this can be a great alternative.

And thirdly, the best part of having a chalkboard door is that after Christmas you can erase the tree and use it for other holidays and seasons!  Basically, a chalkboard Christmas tree is the way to go – there are so many benefits.

I chalkboard painted the door of my fridge once (It was a very old, rusty fridge and we couldn’t afford a new one) and I loved that thing.  So did my young kids at the time.  And they are also great for homeschooling.  If it isn’t evident, I’m all for the chalkboard doors!

Christmas Faux Chalk Signs

Like the chalkboard art look but not the mess that with it?  There’s a solution for that.  These Cozy Christmas Faux Chalkboard Signs over at Lemon Thistle can solve the chalkboard mess problem.  With some paint, signs from a craft store, and stencils the combinations you can create are endless!

Chalkboard Christmas Balls

Transform plain Christmas ornaments into works of art with chalkboard paint. Just paint some round Christmas balls with the paint. This creative DIY project is a great way to get the family involved in the holiday decorating. Use chalk pens to draw intricate designs or write holiday messages on the black background. The best part is, you can erase and redesign them next year!

Chalkboard Mantel

Decorating your fireplace mantel is a Christmas tradition, and adding a chalkboard touch can make it even more special. Frame your mantel with a wooden frame and draw a festive scene, a “Merry Christmas” greeting, or your favorite Christmas quote.

If you are lucky enough to have a mantel to decorate for the holidays, consider yourself lucky because there’s just something so beautiful about chalkboard art on a mantel. I, sadly, do not have a mantel so I’ll just have to live vicariously through people on the Internet who do have one.

Christmas Chalk Style Printables

I love to scour the internet for printables in chalkboard style, printing them out, and then putting them in a frame.  I can switch them out depending on the season.  I really like these Christmas chalkboard printables.

Chalkboard tags

Chalkboard tags are a fun way to label your Christmas gifts.  These tags on Amazon are multipurpose – you can use them as tags for Christmas gifts, but you can also use them as a garland, like the picture below.  You can also use them as Christmas ornaments.  Draw or write whatever you want on them!

Different Options for Chalkboard Creations

To make these chalkboard creations you will need a few supplies.  You can find a variety of chalk markers, chalkboard paint, and mini chalkboards at craft stores, dollar stores, or Amazo. Additionally, stock photos can provide inspiration and ideas for your own chalkboard creations.

Maybe you like the chalkboard art ideas, but you really don’t want to do it yourself.  That’s okay because there’s plenty of Christmas chalkboard art items out there that you can buy.  If you prefer someone else to create it and you just want to use it to decorate your home, that’s definitely an option!

There’s even these really cool chalkboard style Christmas cards you could send out to all your friends and family this year.  I think they are just so pretty!

The holiday season is a time of year filled with joy and happiness, and beautiful, festive decor. Christmas chalkboard art is a fantastic way to add a personal touch to your home decor and embrace the holiday spirit.

Whether you’re an experienced artist or a beginner, these Christmas chalkboard ideas offer a fun and creative outlet for expressing your inner Christmas elf. So, gather your supplies, and let your artistic skills shine during this most wonderful time of the year.

You could also invite a few friends over and have a chalkboard creation party.  Gather your supplies, put out some snacks, and make it a girls night of creativity and laughs!  You could even make a sign as a gift for someone in your life.

So, as you can see, there are plenty of ways to add chalkboard art to your home and life this holiday season.
