10 Baking Recipes That Use Up Too Much Milk
Wasting food is not an option – especially these days with the ever-rising price of groceries, including milk. So, if there is too much milk and not enough time before the expiration date, it’s time to get creative.

Maybe you went to the store and bought some milk and thought to yourself, “we’ll use this in no time” only for your kids to suddenly decide that week they didn’t really like milk? Or maybe you have a cow and there is always SO MUCH MILK.
While we have the land to have a milking cow, we never took the jump. We don’t drink that much milk, so I had a hard time convincing myself we would actually use all the milk a cow gives. Still, the thought of fresh, thick cream on my coffee every morning, straight from the cow, was almost enough for me to give in.
Fun fact: I live in Canada so my milk comes in a bag. Also, I thought that all milk in Canada was sold in bags but that’s not true. Actually, I think most provinces in Canada sell milk in jugs or cartons. But not here in Ontario!
Anyways, if you have too much milk and you need to use it – stat – here are some recipes to try.
10 BAKING RECIPES THAT USE UP ALL THAT MILK
London Fog Latte

London fogs are exceptionally cozy. Make this London fog for not only yourself, but your whole family. That milk will be gone in no time if EVERYONE in your house has one.
Pumpkin Waffles

I adore waffles. Add pumpkin in there and it takes them to a whole new level. These pumpkin waffles use a cup and a half of milk. You could double the recipe and freeze the extra waffles if you wanted.
Pancakes

Maybe you aren’t team waffles, but more of a team pancake kind of person. Well, these pancakes use plenty of milk as well!
Creamy Potato Garlic Soup

While this potato soup recipe only uses 1/2 cup of milk, you could reduce the broth or water a bit and add more milk instead.
Biscuits

If you make these biscuits with the soup recipe above, you have two recipes that use milk! This recipe actually calls for buttermilk, but you could replace that with just plain regular milk, or make a buttermilk substitute by adding 1 tbsp of vinegar to a cup of milk and waiting ten minutes.
Yogurt

This is the BEST way to use up extra milk. You can easily use 4 cups of milk in a batch of homemade yogurt, and the good news? You don’t need a yogurt maker.
Amish Baked Oatmeal

Hands down one of my favorite breakfast recipes to make the kids, this Amish Baked Oatmeal uses 1 cup of milk – but I often double the recipe because I have teenage boys. I make it the night before and then they can eat it in the morning!
Creme Anglaise

Also known as vanilla custard, this Creme Anglaise uses up not only a lot of milk, but a lot of eggs. Perfect if you have laying hens like I do!
Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls

If you haven’t noticed yet, I have a soft spot for pumpkin flavored desserts. I freeze pureed pumpkin so I have it to use all year long. These cinnamon buns use plenty of milk – 1 and a half cups!
Vanilla Iced Coffee

This vanilla iced coffee actually uses cream, but you could substitute milk for it. And hey, if you are like me, you drink multiple coffees a day so that means extra ways to use more milk!
And hey, if all else fails, and you need a quick way to use up all that milk, there’s always the classic cookies and milk!
